SERVICES
2Bills offers the following professional services:
Editorial Development
2Bills works with a team of experienced book editors who in turn work in a role similar to what in-house editors do in a publishing company. Today, the editorial function for all but the top-selling authors resides heavily with the agent. Manuscripts and sample chapters we submit to a publisher must therefore be in mint condition. Our editors ensure that they are. 2Bills can recommend editors to you, but it is up to you to make the final choice and to arrive at a mutually acceptable editing fee. We make no money on such fees.
Business Representation
2Bills offers for purchase by editors at publishing houses. Once an expression of interest becomes tangible, we represent our author’s interests throughout the negotiating process. Our representation does not end with a signed contract. We continue to work with the author and the publisher in such areas as formulating marketing strategy, selling domestic and foreign rights, examining author royalty statements, and collecting monies due the author.
Publicity and Marketing
The principals of 2Bills Literary Agency have considerable marketing experience and media contacts that we bring to bear on each book project. Our involvement enhances what a publisher’s marketing staff does.
Agency Agreement
2Bills and its authors sign an Agency Agreement that details what is expected of both parties in the business relationship. Under this agreement, the agency retains a 15% commission on all of the author’s earnings. We collect royalty and other payments due you from the publisher and promptly remit the author’s share. Authors are charged for incidental expenses incurred directly on the author’s behalf, such as: postage, packaging and handling fees, copying fees, long-distance telephone calls, and any other pre-approved expenses exceeding $50.
